A strong outreach mission is a critical area of service for us. St. John’s aim is to reach out to the community, the nation, and the world. We do this by budgeting a tithe of our income to support those in need and by contributing our time in volunteer service and missionary opportunities.
The Word and Sacrament, our Foundation
Christians have always based their belief on the Word and the Sacrament, believing that the two are meant to be complementary. We hold to the tradition that Scripture is the revealed Word of God, and through preaching and teaching, we will come to understand that Word and put the Word into action.
Complementing the Word are the Church’s sacraments. Two of them were commanded by Christ Himself—Baptism and the Eucharist. Baptism is initiation into the Body of Christ, the Church, and the Eucharist (the Lord’s Supper) sustains us in that union with Christ.
At St. John’s, we celebrate the Eucharist each Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:30. (Except for the first Sunday of every month when we have one service at 9:00 followed by a potluck brunch and fellowship.)
Youth and Children
Learning how to have a personal relationship with God is fundamental at St. John’s. Christian education is directed towards helping young people grow in their relationship with Christ.
